"Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain...."
The sound of rain on our metal roof reminds me of the 'ole tin roof days of my childhood in my gorgeous Kentucky. I will always cherish that sound. The leaves have fallen to the ground in a whisper, each twisting and twirling as it spins its way from the heights of the tall red maples, coming to rest upon a bed of brilliant reds, golds, and russets.
The fireplace is crackling with a fiery snap, as the faint fragrance of wood-smoke mingles with pumpkin spice. I sit in my favorite warm robe sipping my morning coffee as I read my devotionals. God is GREAT...more than good...more than awesome....more than human words can ever tell. I love You, Lord! You alone are WORTHY of ALL Praise and Honor and Glory!

Dancing With God
From an e-mial:
Dancing With God
When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G": I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance.."
God, you, and I dance. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
and mercies are upon you on this day and every day.
May you abide in God, as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
and to guide you through each season of your life.

Support Chick-Fil-A Please!!
Let's support Chick-fil-A
Even the vegetarians should go buy something...give it
away-just support them in any way you can...let's STAND UP for what's right when
Christians are persecuted!
LSCW
Recently Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy, son of founder Truett Cathy when asked by a Christian news publication about his company's stance on marriage and the family and some of the criticism they've endured said the following: Some have opposed the company’s support of the traditional family. “Well, guilty as charged,” said Cathy when asked about this opposition. “We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families – some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that,” Cathy emphasized. “We intend to stay the course. We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”
When asked again during a radio interview that followed, Mr. Cathy stated: "As it relates to society in general, I think we’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think we can try to define what marriage is all about,” he explained. Now national media outlets like the LA Times and Huffington Post, upset over his comments, have taken to writing scathing articles and editorials blasting Chick-Fil-A and Mr. Cathy as a bigot and hate monger and are calling for boycotts and protests of the restraunt chain; actions which have been supported by several gay and lesbian groups and now Jim Henson's Muppets. It is indeed a sad state of affairs when free speech and beliefs can be boldly and openly shared, just as long as they do not come from a Christian perspective. Mike Huckabee has since issued a call for "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" set for Wed August 1st in which he is inviting supporters to eat at their local Chick-Fil-A as a show of support for the company and their founders the Cathy's. I'm not usually one to get involved in these sort of issues, but you know it would have to be Chicken Nuggets to draw me off the sidelines; you don't mess with "Chick Ole" as my kids call it! In all seriousness, I was truly moved by the humble and truthful approach that Mr. Cathy took. He merely stated his own conviction, one which I fully support, and as such has come under attack. I would encourage you all to not only participate next Wed, but to keep this company and it's founders in your prayers. If there was ever a "Support Rally" to get behind, this is it! You won't find a tastier cause!

Jesus The Righteous One
I love this:
In RIGHTEOUSNESS....you will be established....THINK about it.....we are ONLY righteous IN Christ.....are we IN HIM and HE IN US?
How amazing to KNOW that when HE abides in us and us in Him...we can be secure in the knowledge that we are FREE from Oppression, fear, and terror.....no matter what this world throws at us-even unto death.
To know that Satan can't steal our soul, and only our joy IF we allow it.
All our choices are ours to make!!
Choose Life. Choose joy. Choose obedience. Choose trust. Choose Forgiveness. Choose the fruits of the Spirit!
"In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee."

We Are The Jewels That God Loves So Much!
Treasure of
Clay |
You may look at me and see just an ordinary person, rather petite, auburn hair, blue eyes, and small frame.
but I am also fearfully and wonderfully made by my Maker. My Creator. My own personal designer.
I am an original. There is no one else just like me.
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before
you were born, I separated you for Myself. I have
appointed you to be a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah
1:5
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, Plans for your welfare, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
Malachi 3:17. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of
hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that .
We are very precious in the sight of our Maker, God of all creation. We are His Jewels!
Our Time is valuable.....spend it wisely. Our time is like our money-we can spend it foolishly and have nothing to show for it, OR we can spend it wisely, making the most of every moment for His Kingdom, for our own treasures in heaven where eternity is infinite.

Negative "Friends"
Sometimes we become friends with those who are a negative influence on our character building. We begin to hang out with a person whose values differ from ours. Maybe we can help them;
show them the truth, sometimes we can, sometimes we can not. It's crucial, however, never to forget that influence goes both ways. At times we can be under someone else's influence far more than we are influencing that person.
Most of the time, we don't even seem to be aware that we are being negatively influenced! We just sort of adopt their ways of thinking, and as we begin to think like them, we begin to act like them, talk like them, do what they do and so on. THINK for yourself! Be what GOD intended you to be, don't become a replica of others!
If you, as a young person, find yourself being influenced by anyone who is not serving God....stop, THINK, pray, and ask God to help you become strong in thinking for yourself, be your own person, develop your own character that is pleasing to God.
You will find more joy and peace than you ever could in being a copy of someone else!
The One we are created to be like is Jesus Christ......no other!
God BLESS you in your journey to becoming more like JESUS, the One Whose character is the PERFECT model!

II Corinthians 5:1
- In II Corinthians 5:1 we read about our earthly dwelling....our body.....clay....a temporary tent or home. A place where our mind, spirit, soul 'lives' until the day of judgment.
- Then, when the trumpet sounds and we are called HOME to be with our Father in all eternity, we will leave this temporary dwelling. We will be like Him, glorified in both body and soul. What a day that will be!
- no more tears-
- no more fears.
- Joy unspeakable and full of glory. I'm watching. I'm listening!

Building Character That Is Strong and Enduring
character: traits that combine to make up the total of one's personality. | |
. | Integrity |
. | Honesty |
Loyalty | |
. | Faithfulness |
. | Right Thinking How, where, and when does a "Good Character" develop? The home is most likely the first place where the building block foundations of great character is developed. The Bible tells us that to 'spare the rod' will spoil the child. What, exactly does this mean? The 'rod' of the Bible was used to gently guide and prod one in the right direction. To admonish in the Lord, in( Ephesians 6:4) is quoted as the way to 'bring up a child in the Way he should go' as quoted in Proverbs 22:6. How then should we teach our children how to build CHARACTER? First, we must show them good Character traits in our own personal life, walk with God, and be true to our faith. We teach them, by our own example....we show by our actions, not by words alone, we must be 'doers of the Word and not hearers only' (James 1:22). We teach them that WE must build our own Character by reading, studying, and applying God's Word in our lives. We teach them that it is OUR OWN responsibility to ADD all these things to our way of living: The Fruits of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. We further build Character by Honesty, Forgiveness, Obedience to those in authority, Respect for one another, Honor, Loyalty, Generosity, and Hard Work, Discipline, and of course, SELF-DISCIPLINE! God will not build your good Character FOR you, but He has certainly given you all the tools you need to build your own Character! God does not FORCE anything upon us. We must learn to seek Him, seek wisdom, seek to do His will, and ask Him for strength, to intervene for us, and He will see that all things work together for good, for those who love God. (Romans 8:28) We must learn to think good, lovely, and true thoughts. To have FAITH and it WILL be done according to our faith......as Jesus said, "be it according to your faith!" (Matthew 8:25 and 9:29) Start your own CHARACTER-BUILDING TODAY! Don't wait until someone else forces your personality to go the way of chance.... (Satan goes about like a ROARING lion, seeking whom he may DEVOUR! I Peter 5:8......if we don't develop our Character....he certainly will!) We are given a life of CHOICES......Choose GOOD........Choose Blessings! Choose to Obey God. God says: "I set before you this day, LIFE and DEATH, Blessings or Cursings.....CHOOSE LIFE! (Deuteronomy 30:19) "As a man thinks, so he is, or so he becomes!" (King Solomon) |

Holy Spirit
What would be different about our Christian walk if the Holy Spirit wasn't inside us?
A question asked in today's Lifeway devotional (May 8, 2012)
I truly do NOT want to imagine my life without the Holy Spirit!
I REMEMBER my life without the Holy Spirit! Therefore, I
NEVER would want to walk through this life with all its pain,
sorrow, temptations, regrets, worldy cares, trials, heartaches,
worries, fears, sin, and all manner of destructive forces,
pounding at me, day after day- never-ending assaults of
the EVIL one, Satan, the accuser of the bretheren, wiley and
cunning, fighting in an unseen battle for my LIFE and my
SOUL!
Thank You, Father God, Thank You, Jesus, for YOUR HOLY
SPIRIT!
The One Who leads me, fills me, guides me, walks with me,
comforts me, intercedes for me, stands with me through
any attack that the thrower of those firey darts may toss
my way!
Life without YOU is death and eternal damnation!
Thank You for abiding in me, and I in You, Lord.

To God Be the Glory!
I Thessalonians 5:16-17
Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
Greetings once again to our faithful prayer warriors, brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ. May the blessings of the Lord be with you as you walk in His love and His perfect will.
Yesterday as I listened to my new favorite Christian radio station Family Life Radio, I was deeply involved in many people calling in to tell what prayer has done in their life. Then a young pastor came on to give his view of how we, in America, and the world have become so complacent in our prayer life.
This young man is from a SBC church in, or around Kansas City. He was talking about how we often (usually) are so quick to ask God for everything we need (or think we need), or want, (think we want), and we don't make our personal relationship with Him intentional.
We know that we pray to God the Father, through Jesus the Son and through the Holy Spirit, yet the world is filled with those who believe just as fervently in PRAYER, yet to other 'gods'.
When we pray to God in fellowship, worship, for intercession, for requests, for praise, etc., if we EXPECT those prayers to be answered, we MUST be in His will. We can not be living a life of sin, of complacency, of living the ways of the world, and still expect God to hear and answer our prayers!
If our prayers go un-answered and it seems that we are forgotten...could it be that we have allowed the deceiver to slip in and convince us that the wrong we are doing is "right, or okay"? In I Peter, we see that we should "be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may DEVOUR".
He can not take your soul, but he CAN take your joy, your walk with your Lord God can be destroyed and he can cause you to fall over and over! He can cause your prayers to go un-heard or un-answered.
Do you tend to think "why does God not hear me, why does He not answer? Does God not love me? When your prayers are not answered the way you want, or in the time you want, etc. do you blame HIM rather than search your own soul for sin and disobedience?
It is common for us to search our selves and see if we have un-confessed sin in our life before we take communion.....just so, we should examine our walk with Him and daily offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him. Christ tells us to "be ye holy, for I am holy". He loved us so much, still in our sin, that He gave Himself for us.
Too often we CONFUSE legalism with OBEDIENCE. Too often we CONFUSE works with OBEDIENCE. Too often we CONFUSE law with OBEDIENCE. Jesus says, "If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments."
In James we read that "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask AMISS, that ye consume it on your lusts (worldy desires)". What if we are asking for others, and not for ourselves?
We still need to be IN Him and "be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (James 1:22).
We should ask ourselves in all that we do, think, and feel, and in our attitudes: Is this grieving the Holy Spirit? "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption" (Eph. 4:30). If we truly have Jesus as Lord of our life then we must obey His every command.
" be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds, (thoughts) through Christ Jesus." (Eph.4:6-7)
May we grow daily in His love and may we love and forgive as he loves and forgives us....completely!
I love you all and will be praying for my precious family every day! Please pray for us without ceasing and rejoice evermore with us.
In His Name for His Glory!

Truth Through Fiction
"Some men by feigned words, as dark as mine, make truth to spangle and its rays to shine!"
- Bunyan
Even Jesus used fiction to reveal truth through His parables.
Storytelling is an art used to share the gospel of salvation around the world.
The Bible is filled with situations where a story is told to convey an important message. The Bible is a book of truth, so when you read with discernment, you will know the difference in a story, an allegory, and a parable.
Ask God for wisdom and discernment. Truth can be fascinationg and hold interest when told through fictional stories.
You can't change the truth (and don't want to!) but you can mesmerize an audience with telling it and making it shine through stories that captivate the listeners.

Healing Rain by Michael W. Smith

Healing Rain by Michael W. Smith
As I struggle to write today, I’m listening to “Healing Rain” by my favorite Christian artist….Michael W. Smith.
I think he expresses the deepest of my inner-most feelings. I am SO in love with God! It’s so easy for me to see God through the eyes of David, the shepherd boy, who became not only King, but a man after God’s own heart!
How could it be that David was a ‘man after God’s own heart’? It was David’s heart, of course. David’s heart was filled to over-flowing with praise, worship, prayer, and faith. It shows in his Psalms. He sought God!
He turned to God during times of fear, stress, pain and sorrow. He praised and worshipped God during times of peace, joy, and success. God was his strength.
His delight was in the Lord, always. When he cried out from the depths of despair, he knew that no matter how deeply he sank in the pit, no matter how alone and afraid he felt, God was there with him.
He said he could go down to the pit and God was there. He could ascend to the heavens and God was there. God was in, around, before, behind, above and below him.
How can one not love and worship a God like that?
I suppose today I’m writing this because of the gathering of the atheists this week. How, I ask both myself and my God, can anyone……anyone, ever think that all the wonderful and awesome beauty, intelligence, depths of soul and spirit, moral integrity, vast knowledge of the explorations of the universe, cellular differentiation, wisdom of the human mind, love for one another, yearning, memory of past, care of tomorrow, striving in the present, the desire to know more, and I could go on and on and on……how could any ‘intelligent’ person NOT believe in God!?
Do people not think? Do they not consider how their own bodies function? Do they not consider the infinite intricacies of creation? Do they not wonder ‘where’ their own intellect came from?
Do they not wonder ‘what if there IS a God, a creator, a savior’? Do they not wonder about hell? Do they not consider that if they are wrong......what then?
Why are people not searching for the truth? Why do they refuse to even read God’s Word and then deny God? Why do they prefer to believe that this infinite creation happened by “accident”?
Which makes more sense……an all powerful, all intelligent, all present God….or an Accident?
An accident!??
I have two eyes placed strategically in my head, two strategically placed ears, a heart that has cellular differences than my lungs, kidneys, pancreas…..all having a certain purpose, all communicating with one another-working together, systematically.

I have a soul that longs for God and the truth! I have a mind that searches endlessly for more knowledge. I have a heart that functions just the way God intended it. I have a spirit that soars at the sound of Amazing Grace and Healing Rain!
I have a deep yearning to meet this Creator God-Jesus-Holy Spirit. To meet the One Who gave life to every creature, Who gives us snow, rain, sunshine, wind, and the sun, moon, and stars. The One Who planned our salvation from the foundation of the world!

I have memories of my mother……memories that make me laugh and cry. I have a mind filled with memories of just about everything I’ve ever seen and heard!
I have a brain that most say only functions at a fraction of its capacity…….an accident!?
Appalling! Sad beyond words.
I planted tulips that every year.... produce tulips! I had a dog that gave birth to puppies! I am human, and I gave birth to two humans! Nothing ‘crossed over’ to another species! No species has ever 'evolved' into a different species. We did not evolve from apes or anything else! We are created by our Creator God and the only evolution ever involved is from the womb to the grave!
God planned it that way…..after its own kind! There is FAR more proof of God than of any kind of evolution from an 'accident'!
WHO are these 'fools' trying to kid? Why would anyone 'fall' for that kind of jargon!?

A word of advice to anyone who doubts the existence of God……. “a fool says in his heart, there is no God.” (Psalm 14:7)
One day, no matter what you believe, "every knee will bow and every tongue confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD, to the glory of God, the Father.” (Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:10)
Search the scriptures before you deny God. Ask HIM to show you the TRUTH! God tells us in His Word, the Holy Bible, that if you “call unto Me, I will answer and show you great and mighty things that you do NOT know!” (Jeremiah 33:3)
God also tells us to “seek Me and you will find Me when you search for Me, with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
IF you honestly seek God….you will find Him. He’s not lost….you are!
Please don’t ‘take on a belief’ in something that will destroy your life and eternity! Only a FOOL says ‘there is no God!!!’
Don’t BE a fool! God LOVES you and I am praying for you….for all you who do not know God.
As we who believe may well know:
Psalm 19:1-2 proclaim His handiwork.
Romans 1:19-20 tells us that God has revealed Himself by His creation and all who deny it are suppressing the truth!
Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1 declare those who deny God as fools or liars or both.
Isaiah 6:10 tells us that "having eyes, they see not. having ears they hear not, lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn and be HEALED!"
They CHOOSE to deny God!
Wake up out of your slumber, you 'atheists' who know there is a God and that He will not be mocked or denied.
Today is the day of salvation......turn to Him and be healed.

Just Like Jesus
If we are not following Jesus-
We are so completely lost!
If we trek this road alone-
We will one day realize the cost.
Oh, to walk the walk He walked-
Oh to share the Father's great love!
How gloriously would our spirit soar-
As if on the wings of a heavenly dove!

A Sunday School teacher asked her little children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"
One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."
I hope we aren't asleep! Is this what the children are seeing? Cute though it is for a child to say.....out of the mouths of babes comes truth!
JESUS IS COMING......Let us awaken out of our slumber.
